Anxiety, Anxiety, Anxiety...What a Pain in the Brain!!

Teaching your child different strategies they can try when they become anxious is very helpful for them.

1. Teach your child how to breathe properly. Simply showing them how to breathe in through their nose (like smelling a flower) and breathe out through their mouths (like blowing out their birthday candles), can make a big difference. Some children have never been shown how to breathe in and out properly as a strategy to calm themselves down. Introduce them to this great video that explains how to breathe in and out very simply and effectively.

Practice this video with your child or student at least two times until they know how to properly breathe in and out. It's something that will help them throughout their lifetime and is so important in helping them calm their bodies when they become anxious or have another strong emotion.
